Week 1
01–13–25
Working during week 1 consisted of lots of referencing designs that peaked my interest along with building out the blog website. I’m spending a lot of time thinking about what exactly the drawer design will be. This is also being driven by what my goals are with not only this project but this product as well.

Currently my goal is to provide a product that maintains the features of the main stream drawer systems, particularly DECKED (they are the leader manufactur of truck drawer systems) but at a lower cost to appeal to a larger market. I want to provide a more stripped back approach that may not have some of the more comfort features, such as a rail system that  allows the drawer to easily slide in and out but with that sacrifice I can offer significatnly more storage space and less moving parts.

The screenshots featured show a crate design that heavily peaked my interest. The company is called Sidio and this product of theirs is still a drawer system but the design is incredibly simplistic and  each drawer is easily removable and is indipendently waterproof (the tub itself is not dependent on the sleeve to keep it waterproof like the DECKED drawer system also featured in the photos.

All that said for my design I’d like to draw a connection between the DECKED system and the Sidio design. I guess you could say mine would go right down the middle of both of these.

Setting up the blog has been going pretty well and the website I’m working with, Cargo, has lots of potential and is very unique with eye catching style but at the same time it is quite finnicky and the quirks can be quite frustrating.

Also featured are some sketch designs that are essentially my visual brainstorming. None of it is set in stone and most likely will change. The sketch of the bed is what my steel reinforcement on the base plate would look like. For price concerns the additoin of the steel reinforcement is still up in the air because that much steel and fabrication would be quite expensive.

Overall happy with this start and excited to see where this project will take me.
