Finalized my logos and colors that I’ll move forward with for the forseeable future! Got feedback from Anatol my professor that the icons I had previously lacked an air of offroad and outdoors. This took me back to the drawing board and after some more sketchbook brainstorming I found this design that really spoke as a brand. It features the same lower case “r” that’s in the logo and the way it’s positioned on the triangle the tip of the shape resembles a snow cap of a mountain and subtly nods towards the outdoor inspired nature of the brand.
For the colors I first took a little field trip to “gather research” (look at really awesome outdoor gear I can’t afford) at my local REI. I saught out this store specifically because they feature very high quality out door equipment geared towards wilderness backpacking and expeditions. Much of what they carry are tools and apparel used and worn by the most serious overlanders and the demographic of the overland scene draws many parallels with that of the REI shopper. Using this logic the branding of these companies is tailored toward the kind of person that I to would like to appeal to. After much scouring, photographing, and flinching at price tags, I felt I had a grasp on the overarching themes across the brands and the colors accompanied by them. These colors led me to the blue, green, and red-orange that I’ve ultimately chosen.
I’ve finished up the first pass of the models for the drawers, half-counter and full-counter. These passes as shown are a preliminary modeling that is all to scale with the correct proportions, however lack the intricate details that I will later add. Details include how the crates will seal on top, the handle design for the front of the drrawers, and easier access points around the various design so little doors and what not to access further storage. As well as a locking mechanism for the drawers to maintain security.
